PAL Pre-Installation Integration Checklists
ChemStation
- For the installation of Cycle Composer, there are no further operating system requirements than those required of ChemStation.
- Installer must log onto the PC with Administrator privileges Ensure the PC has a COM port available for the PAL Ensure ChemStation is installed and operating correctly
Which versions of ChemStation are supported?
Integrating the PAL with ChemStation (Right-click to download)
- Note: ChemStore, an Agilent add-on program, is only compatible with PAL integrations which use ICC-CE. Integrations which use Cycle Composer and a driver have Windows Operating System conflicts with ChemStore and are not compatible. Attempts to install and run Cycle Composer with ChemStore will not be successful and may result in a loss of data.
What else comes in the box with the PAL?
- Firmware ver. 2.2.4 or higher
- Cycle Composer or Cruise Control ver. 1.5.3 or higher
- Driver appropriate to the ChemStation version (see chart)
- Serial cable (null modem type)
- Interface cable--PAL to chromatograph/MS
Xcalibur
- For the installation of Cycle Composer, there are no further operating system requirements than those required of Xcalibur.
- Installer must log onto the PC with Administrator privileges
- Ensure the PC has a COM port available for the PAL. An additional COM port is needed if a - - Rheos pump is installed
- Ensure Xcalibur is installed and operating correctly
- If Xcalibur is version 1.2, the patch #9537 (Homepage patch) must be installed. Contact Thermo Electron for this patch www.thermo.com.
What else comes in the box with the PAL?
- Firmware ver. 2.2.4 or higher
- Cycle Composer or Cruise Control ver. 1.5.3 or higher
- Driver version 1.5.6.
- No Cycle Composer or driver software is needed for systems running Xcalibur ver. 2.0. PAL control is built into this version of Xcalibur. Contact Thermo Electron Corporation.
- Serial cable (null modem type)
- Interface cable--PAL to chromatograph/MS
MassLynx
- For the installation of Cycle Composer, there are no further operating system requirements than those required of Xcalibur.
- Installer must log onto the PC with Administrator privileges
- Ensure the PC has a COM port available for the PAL
- Ensure MassLynx is installed and operating correctly
- Ensure the latest Software Change Note has been installed (latest for MassLynx ver. 3.5 is SCN 385). Download SCNs from www.waters.com.
What else comes in the box with the PAL?
- Firmware ver. 2.2.4 or higher
- Cycle Composer or Cruise Control ver. 1.5.3 or higher
- No Cycle Composer or driver software is shipped for systems running MassLynx ver 4.0 or higher. PAL control is built into this version. Contact Waters Corporation.
- Serial cable (null modem type)
- Interface cable--PAL to chromatograph/MS
Analyst
- Installer must log onto the PC with Administrator privileges
- Ensure the PC has a COM port available for the PAL
- Ensure Analyst is installed and operating correctly
- Obtain the appropriate driver from www.appliedbiosystems.com
- Install the appropriate driver
What else comes in the box with the PAL?
- Firmware ver. 2.3.6 or higher
- No Cycle Composer or driver software is shipped for systems running Analyst ver. 1.4.0 or higher. PAL control is built into this version of Analyst. ICC-CE is required if custom cycles will be run.

- Interface cable--PAL to chromatograph/MS
