The Polymer Group
Polymers in the formulation and production process are kept dissolved in solvents until they are applied in their final application. The reaction of monomers with the help of catalysts is a tricky balancing act. The goal for the process is a specific, reproducible quality at the highest yield possible (efficiency). Sampling during the formulation and production is very often a manual process and requires someone to be present during a typical 16 hour run time. LEAP has recently developed a sampling process which will lead to completely un-attended monitoring of the polymerization process in small scale, pilot and production size operations.
LEAP’s Polymer Group provides Spectroscopy sample preparation and fraction collection automation for the use in polymer research. The product offerings convert either HPLC or GPC into an achievable spectroscopic sample by depositing sample directly to a sample plate that can be analyzed by various spectroscopic techniques such as FTIR, MALDI-TOF, and even RAMAN.
The LC-T-Sprayer product line are a continually spraying fraction collector and consists of two models, the 600R series and the 600XY series. The model 600R collects sample unto round format discs and the XY collects samples unto a square format. The deposited sample ends up dry on the surface while the solvent immediately evaporates upon impact. The group also offers Automated Optics platforms that are designed to fit various FTIR benches for automate analysis of collected samples in bith round and square formats.
