UL approval for PALs

Distribution: Dealer World-Wide, PAL Systems Key Word: EMC and Safety Tests Date: Jan. 20 / 2004 CE and UL (ITS) Marks

Last year CTC Analytics has fulfilled the safety and EMC tests for USA and Canada, commonly known as "UL Test". The tests have been carried out at the Intertek, ITS, Institute in Massachusetts, USA. ITS is an accredited worldwide operating organization with the same credibility as the well-known UL organization. The CE mark has been received already in the Year 1999. Specific tests have been repeated with the most current level of the PAL System.

The PAL System does comply with the EMC Directive 89/336/EEC and the Low Voltage Directive 73/23/EEC.

The common technical specifications used for demonstration of compliance are:

  • UL 61010A-1, EN 61010-1,(1993)
  • CAN/CSA C22.2 STD No. 1010.1-92
  • IEC 6136:2002, IEC 6136 Annex B
  • EN 50081-1:1992, EN 50082-1:1997
  • IEC 61326:2002;FCC Part15 (Stack and Tray Cooler only) All current PAL Systems (including IFC PAL, Fraction collector) and the PAL Modules using a separate power supply are covered. This does include the PAL Stack and Tray Coolers; the out-phased MultiPos Valve combinations with the 24 V power supply (P/N:MN 05-00, Valco Valve drives) One requirement for the CE and UL marks is the so-called "Dielectric Voltage Withstand Test". The power supplies are factory tested. The test is for 2 seconds at 1900 V to detect any possible grounding leak.

The label at the bottom of the power supply housing does give the indication of the positive passed test requirements.
